ETC Elite Camp

high school report

Ashton Walker

Catholic High School
Virginia Beach, VA
CG 2025

Ashton Walker is a 6’4” playmaker who is both long and athletic and was one of the best overall players at ETC’s first Elite Camp. Spending his last school year playing on Oak Hill Red, Ashton is an above average competitor and seeks to take on challenges to make things easier for his teammates.

As stated above, Ashton is as elite a competitor as they come. In addition to playing for Oak Hill Red last high school season, he played on both EYBL & 3SSB circuits this past summer. He possesses an elite handle, plays well above the rim, can finish over legit bigs, and is a true team first player. At these camps you will often have drill settings where there's a mix of talent, Ashton was vocal in communicating in 3v3 and 4v4 sessions maximizing his teammates strengths and doing the dirty work at times to hide their weaknesses. With three Division 1 offers and counting, Ashton looks to take the head of a stacked Catholic HS squad loaded with additional college prospects. I have no doubt Ashton will find tremendous success under Coach Steinburg and continue to climb the rankings.

Demeir Pollard

Landstown High School
Virginia Beach, VA
PG 2024

Demeir Pollard is a 6’1” point guard that is a three year varsity player for Landstown High School (6A). Demeir comes from a family of college basketball players with both his brother & sister playing. Demeir is the prototypical point guard with an above average handle, jumpshot and (most importantly) ability to make decisions. Demeir is a high iQ playmaker that is deadly coming out of a screen and roll and excels at finding his teammates after penetrating the defense.

Demeir has the appropriate size to play the point guard at the next level. Over the summer Demeir garnered interest from D3s like Cabrini University and other schools in the ODAC conference. Landstown is a historical powerhouse in the 6A class and Demeir is poised to make a deep run surrounded by a young core of athletic and talented wings. An honors student, Demeir Pollard is a perfect candidate for high academic schools looking for a ‘24 lead guard.

Eleck “EJ” Sutton

Northeastern High School
Elizabeth City, NC
F 2025

It was really fun watching Eleck “EJ” Sutton and the growth he’s taken as a player since joining Wave Basketball Club 2025 Sanders last AAU season when I first met him. At 6’8” 225 lbs, EJ has been in the weight room and his combination of size, speed, and agility proved to be a threat not only rim running but also showed some wing abilities in the half court sessions of ETC’s Elite Camp.

Despite being one of the biggest kids at camp, EJ Sutton is one of the most underrated players in this group of standouts. EJ plays in Elizabeth City, NC at a small school which typically pops up in 757 events from time to time, Northeastern High School. Last year EJ wrapped up his sophomore season receiving sparing minutes where his role was limited to rim running and setting screens. EJ plays way above the rim and has worked diligently on his body to be able to finish through contact at the rim, not just jump over it. This past summer EJ made a name for himself at Big Shots & Hoop Group live events, increasing his profile but still is an overall underrated prospect in the 2025 class. With continued work on his body & wing abilities, EJ Sutton could wind up on a Division 1 roster. At the least, Division 2s should be keeping a heavy eye on the Elizabeth City junior.

Justin Jones

Atlantic Shores High School
Virginia Beach, VA
CG 2026

Justin Jones is a player who has basketball in his DNA and you can feel that when you watch him play. The 6’0” CG has a knack for finding the bucket, one of those players who finds easy scoring opportunities early and often. Justin has a smooth package of finishes around the rim and is a fearless finisher. He excelled at scoring off screens in the 5 on 5 session, a valuable gift when evaluating prospects for the next level.

Justin started for Atlantic Shores last year as a freshman and was an impactful player, averaging 12.9ppg in conference play and receiving an All Metro Conference team bid. Justin works tirelessly on his body and on his craft, having the advantage of being exposed to college level strength and conditioning from an early age. With continued opportunities to play with the ball in his hands, Justin Jones has a high chance of playing at the next level.

Rodney “Melo” Baines

Lake Taylor High School
Norfolk, VA
F/C 2024

One of Hampton Roads’ biggest kids in the 2024 class, Rodney “Melo'' Baines, put on a masterclass at ETC’s Elite Camp showcasing his all around talents. Melo is 6’8” high/low post player that sees the floor exceptionally well and is one of the most fundamental defenders I’ve seen. Baines’ ability to move his feet to rotate into position and then immediately wall up on his opponents was a consistent factor in both the half & full court sessions.

The best attribute that Melo Baines displayed at camp was his selfless nature on the basketball floor. Despite being 6’8”, there was plenty of size at camp to challenge Baines at the rim on not only attacks to the basket but also contested rebounds. Baines dominated his opposition in gaining position either out of the high or low post where he was then able to find the basket or find a teammate for an open cut/kick out jump shot. Baines worked tirelessly on the offensive and defensive glass, protected the rim at a high level and still rolled hard for lob opportunities. Melo has one Division 1 offer and several Division 2 offers. Heading into his senior campaign at Lake Taylor High School, Melo should garner more Division 1 attention as the focal point of his team.

Sean O’Connor

Hampton Christian School
Hampton, VA
F 2024

Sean O’Connor of Hampton Christian School is the next underrated prospect on the list of standouts from ETC’s Elite Camp. Sean is a stretch four that shoots the three ball at a high clip and is a master at utilizing screens, DHOs, etc. to create opportunities for himself or his teammates. Sean is a no excuses, no questions asked type of player, willing to do the dirty work and has the skill to provide himself an array of scoring options on all three levels of the floor.

New Hampton Christian head coach Tim Sparks was excited to take over a program with a player like Sean O’Connor. Coach Sparks told me, “Sean is one of our senior captains this year. He was a major part of the team’s success last year and he is one of our main leaders on and off the court.” Sean O’Connor at 6’4” is an ideal small ball five or stretch forward that would be a good fit in a 5-out or drive and kick offense. I expect he’ll receive attention from D3s and schools in the USCAA (Apprenticeship, Mid-Atlantic Christian, etc). With additional new talent like Martino Henry, Hampton Christian could surprise some schools in the Metro this year.

Timothy James Jr.

Salem High School
Virginia Beach, VA
SG 2024

One of the most energetic and expressive players in the gym last weekend was Timothy James Jr.. Tim is one of my favorite kids to scout and has been since the first time I saw him up close at an elite camp last year. Tim is one of the players whose energy is contagious. You can feel, even in the stands, the energy he brings to a game and how that energy transforms into pressure put onto his opponents.

Timothy James Jr. is a 6’0” SG who is athletic and determined to make his presence felt. He has an above average three point shot and is athletic enough to finish over defenders at the rim. Tim’s greatest advantage however, is his tenacity. He’s a lock down on ball defender and is just as menacing playing the passing lanes. He sees the floor well and does a great job pushing the ball in transition from defense to offense. The past high school season, Tim gained notoriety by helping Salem upset the beach district #1 seed Cox High School in the first round of playoffs. In the fourth quarter, Tim was fouled on a three point attempt at the buzzer and nailed all three free throws to seal the game for his Salem squad. Recently receiving an offer from Georgian Court University (Division 2), it’s clear Timothy James Jr. is a scholarship level player and should receive more college buzz in his senior campaign.

Timothy Mobley

Salem High School
Virginia Beach, VA
CG 2024

It would be wrong for me to recount back to back Salem High School senior guards without shouting out the third starting senior of the Salem-Cerberus, Kaemon Khan, who would have made the list of standouts if not for how well Tim Mobley played in the 5 on 5 runs. Tim James Jr., Tim Mobley, and Kaemon Khan have a unique opportunity this year to do something special in the beach district. It’s not too often that a public school has three, senior, college level guards.

Back to a name many may not have heard, Timothy Mobley scored more in three games of 5 on 5 than anyone else at camp. He was an absolute flamethrower, making not only several three pointers off the bounce but also turned heads with his ability to twist and turn at the rim for creative finishes.

There was a five minute stretch in one of the games where Tim Mobley outscored the other team 12-2. He has a fast twitch on his handle to navigate the court with efficiency and purpose and doesn't waste many dribbles getting to his buckets. At 5’11”, Tim Mobley was a scoring threat from the perimeter with his quick handle and trigger. Once again, the combination of Khan, James Jr., and Mobley should be a constant challenge for opposing defenses all season long.

TJ Ricks

Cape Henry Collegiate
Virginia Beach, VA
F/W 2025

The most interesting prospect at the camp in my opinion was Cape Henry Collegiate’s 6’5” TJ Ricks. I can remember a time not too long ago where Ricks could hardly walk up the floor and grab a rebound, to see his growth to where he is now is nothing short of tremendous.

TJ Ricks is a point forward build, decent handle that is ever-improving, a tremendous frame that allows him to attack downhill and finish at or above the rim, and has a palpable drive. He wants to get better and it’s clearly shown in his game. Improved jumpshot, foot & ball speed as well as improved strength made TJ a match up nightmare for bigs and wings alike. He took advantage of size opportunities and rebounded well even when he was defending a wing. At Cape Henry, TJ has the luxury of playing alongside other college level wings that should continue to push him on this path of growth. With continued work, TJ Ricks will be a name etched in the Cape Henry Hall of Fame.

Viktor Parson

Western Branch High School
Chesapeake, VA
CG 2024

Another senior combo guard who had the crowd enamored at ETC’s Elite Camp was 6’2” Viktor Parson. Vik is a bigger guard with an above average handle and shot making ability. He had the play of the day in the 5 on 5 session with a posterizing dunk on a 6’4” defender. Viktor Parson is explosive and shifty, a deadly combination for a guard with his shooting ability.

Viktor is the type of player that turns heads in drill settings and half court work. His explosiveness jumps off the page and catches people (and defenders) by surprise. Viktor is a three year varsity player at Western Branch High School and averaged over 10ppg both of the last two seasons. Vik has received interest from a variety of schools from James Madison to Bryant & Stratton to the Apprenticeship. There is no doubt VIktor Parson has the skill and athletic ability to play on the next level.
